The Rega Planar 2 is an excellent set and forget turntable from Rega. Compared to the Planar one, it brings a nicer cartridge, better platter and a one-piece cast Rega RB220 tonearm, which notably has no adjustment for the anti-skate which in-practice at this price point is a reasonable omission given that they kept the one-piece cast tonearm wand of higher priced Rega tonearms. The Planar 2 table is actually a bit under-cartridged with the Carbon, so you have a nice upgrade path to the Rega Bias cartridge when cartridge replacement time comes.
The heart of the system is he Rega Brio-R Integrated amplifier, which is hands down the finest $1K amplifier we've ever come across and a match made in heaven for a Rega turntable due to it's excellent internal phono stage and warm hearted yet punchy British voicing.
For speakers, we are hitting one of the best parts of the package - the Dynaudio Evoke 10, the direct descendent of the Dynaudio X12/X14 speakers which have been multi-award winning go-to audiophile choices for the last decade. The Evoke 10 is the entry level in the Evoke series which goes up to the $5000 Evoke 50 floorstander.
The system benefits from the upgrade to Cardas Iridium speaker cable which brings more quietness and resolution courtesy of its higher grade shielding and stranding design. Iridium is our best selling Cardas cable because it is the most economical cable to employ a version of Cardas' Clear technology.
